No More Socks – This little powerhouse of an app is a hugely useful gift planner for all occasions, but it comes into its own in the joyful madness of Christmas. You can shop within the app: it helps you find gifts on the web, bookmarks them, and makes shopping lists for you from the research you’ve done which can be exported to your email. It includes a quick Ideas Pad which lets you store notes and photos, it lets you keep a list of ideas for every person on your lists, and keeps track of what you’ve bought them in the past, and much more besides.

It’s easy to accidentally overdo it at Christmas time. Generosity feels good, but if you’re trying to keep a running tally in your head, it’s possible to get swept away without noticing. Our second app contains helpful tools to keep you on the straight and narrow.
The Christmas List – A handy little planner, this app lacks the shopping functionality of No More Socks, but offers a great budget feature which allows you to set an overall figure as well as individual figures, and then easily track spending as you go, with handy graphs and bars to help you visualise where your money goes and how much more you have to spend.
